Hunted from August 20 – opening of the waterfowl hunting season. Greater white-fronted goose (74–84 cm, 2100–4200 g, usually around 3300 g), more massive, with a thicker neck, head, and bill than the greylag goose.
The upper wing front part is ash grey (1), strongly contrasting with the darker rear wing and back.
The underwing has a lighter underarm (2), contrasting with the dark flight feathers.
Legs flesh-colored (3).
Bill nail white or light (4), the bill itself also flesh-colored or orange, without black markings. Juveniles have the bill tip dark (5).
Call loud, grating, slightly hoarse.
